GHOST LIMB
geoengineering
This performance is based off geo-engineering - the idea of the Earth being treated as replaceable. Geo-engineering concepts are radical solutions to fix the environmental problems we’ve created - you can see more research on my blog post here.
I sit inside a structure, made from wood and string hanging from the ceiling and gradually cut the strings one by one - representing the humans destroying the planet - while mocking the people I feel are most responsible.
The blocks underneath are the geo-engineered solutions, meant to soften my fall but are really no replacement for the strings.
When I performed this piece, I was sure it would collapse as soon as I climbed on, so I told presented the whole idea before I tried it - but to my surprise it worked and I continued the performance as planned.
This video below is the full performance with introduction explaining the piece.
