For the project was ‘Artist as Activist’, for this, I made 2 large papier-mâché heads/masks, one of Donald Trump, and one of Xi Jinping, fighting on a beach. The idea developed from an article of a whale found with a ball of litter in its stomach, and looking at who was to blame. I decided I wanted to make something shocking and satirical. The grotesque heads were inspired by Paul McCarthy and Marvin Gaye Chetwynd inspired the thrown together look. This developed into making a video piece filmed on Scarborough Beach. After I made the video, I wrote a news article and sent it to local papers and emailed local BBC. This ended up being in The Press, BBC Radio, and BBC Look North. With the fun I had making the video, and the attention the video received, and message I was spreading got, showed me that video was something I really worth doing, so heavily influenced the rest of my projects since.
